Ed Moses and Chappellet Winery
“Art and Wine”:  Join Molly Chappellet as the Chappelet Winery celebrates their 50 Year Anniversary & the Art and Architecture of Ed Moses, who designed their iconic pyramid winery. Chappellet will be debuting a series of wine labels based on paintings by Ed Moses. In our opinion, you are very privileged in seeing this invitation. Consider it as our reward for following us!
Chappellet is one of the topmost wineries in the state, and you will be able to taste wine such as you are unlikely to encounter all too often, wine at par with the best French wines. This, while getting acquainted with some of the latest creations of 91 years old Ed Moses.
Moses is, literally, living history. One of the most creative and experimental artists of the XXth Century, who always refused to be imprisoned in any label, however prestigious, still alive and kicking, well into the XXIst.
Consequently, this is a special event. Wine, real wine, is not just “a beverage”. According to the Bible, it’s the first thing that Noah planted after the Flood, and drank to the glory of the Creator. The first miracle Jesus performed was to transform water into wine, to share with the crowd. The last thing He did was share wine and bread with his disciples. Wine is magic in a liquid form, the blood of the Earth. As for Ed Moses, he is not just “an artist”, but one of the most radical, experimental and successful artists of last century. Yet still alive and kicking.
Go there as if you’d go to a temple, a church or some hallowed place. Drink some as a form of Thanksgiving, realizing how privileged you are to be there. Doing that.

Downtown LA Art Walk's photo.
Several things here -and it’s confusing if you just make an Internet search… First, it’s just a date, where the local art trade is encouraged to debut things.  There are mainly two sets of events, a paid tour of galleries people can go to if they wish [cost: $25!], while usually there are also several local galleries using the opportunity to hold real Openings and Parties…  First the paid tour [but please rest assured that you can visit all galleries on your own for free! 😉 ]:
The LOS ANGELES ARTWALK – ART WALK GALLERY TOUR — EVERY SECOND THURSDAY DURING ART WALK

WARNING: This costs $25! [And this is free advertising…]
EXPERIENCE DOWNTOWN DIFFERENTLY. Art exists in every part of Downtown—from morning to night—you will always encounter artistry that feeds all of the senses. From the eye catching Murals to you-name-it, curated for a variety of audiences, from Kindergarteners (!) and Art Enthusiasts to new and experienced Collectors, we pride ourselves in bringing enriching experiences to a larger public.

HEAVY METAL MAGAZINE 40th Anniversary group art show

HEAVY METAL MAGAZINE 40th Anniversary group art show

  • Sat, Jul 15, 2017 8:00pm  on view till Sat, Aug 19, 20175:00pm

Copro Gallery and Heavy Metal Magazine join forces to celebrate 40 years of sci-fi fantasy and comic art with the Heavy Metal 40th Anniversary Art Show. Featuring over eighty artists, this extravaganza will feature art from Heavy Metal’s 40 year history of publishing, new paintings and drawings inspired by the magazine, cel art from the film, limited edition prints, vintage film posters, T-shirts, comics , vintage magazines, memorabilia and more. In addition to vintage artwork and newly created paintings, HM and Copro Gallery will be releasing new limited edition prints each week available at the gallery and online. The Opening Night Event, July 15, will include Live Body Painting, Artist signings and much more. Many of the artists will be in attendance!

First published in 1977, Heavy Metal, the world’s foremost illustrated fantasy magazine, explores fantastic and surrealistic worlds, alternate realities, science fiction and horror, in the past present and future. Writers and illustrators from around the world take you to places you never dreamed existed. Heavy Metal was the first magazine to bring European legends Moebius, Tanino Libertore, Phillippe Druillet, Enki Bilal, Pepe Moreno to the U.S. as well as showcasing American superstars Richard Corben and Berni Wrightson. The magazine continues to showcase amazing new talent as well as allowing established creators to have “carte blanche”. Heavy Metal magazine is now published six times per year. Most issues feature one serialized graphic novel, several short stories, an artist gallery and artist studio section, a dossier and editorial pages. Featuring Grant Morrison as editor-in-chief and Kevin Eastman as publisher, this new era promises to boldly go where no magazine has gone before. Explore ancient secrets, forgotten worlds and savage futures…   Artists included:

We will soon have a preview link for next week, plus all the links for the whole month of June 2017, allowing you easy access to all on-going exhibitions, at a glance :

July-Week1 July-Week2 July-Week3
June-Week5 June-Week4 June-Week3 June-Week2 June-Week1

Click the following buttons to access other useful internal links:

Access the LAartinfo Main Site
Access the LAartinfo “MindTools” sub-site Gateway Page
Access the “You Are What You Eat” sub-site Gateway Page

Further, here are links to access the Gateway Pages for cutting-edge material on various more technical subjects: Investing in Art – Why and How, or “Art Invest” [in construction]; LA Art Residencies or “LA Art Reside” [in construction]; 3D Printing – A general Introduction with the Art Community in mind, or “3DP Intro”; 3D Printing and Art, or “3DP Art”; Geopolymers Introduction, or “GeoPol Intro”; GeoPolymers and Art, or “GeoPol Art”. Please notice that these two last subjects tend to overlap somewhat, at least how we see it, and should preferably be looked at jointly at the same time:

ART INVEST LA ART RESIDE
3DP INTRO 3DP ART GEOPOL INTRO GEOPOL ART

We have quite some material pertaining to all this which slowly accumulated over the years, mostly original material which we have decided to share. However, editing the whole for consistency, and building up the corresponding pages will take a little bit of time. Further Gateway Pages on other cutting-edge subjects are contemplated. For example a page currently contemplated but not yet really worked on is “VR ART”, that is, “ART and VIRTUAL REALITY”.
